Rebeka Fejes on research visit in Perth, Australia

20.02.2023

Rebeka Fejes, PhD student in the project of Oliver Neubauer at the Wagner lab, will visit the Edith Cowan University (School of Medical and Health Sciences, Nutrition and Health Innovation Research Institute) in Perth, Western Australia in July/August. Rebeka received an International Mobility Grant of the Vienna Doctoral School of Pharmaceutical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences (University of Vienna). She will work in particular with Dr Catherine Bondonno and Professor Jonathan Hodgson.

Dr. Bondonno and Prof. Hodgson from the School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University (ECU) in Western Australia are international cooperation partners of the FWF-funded clinical project (under the project management by Dr. Oliver Neubauer)in which scope Rebeka's PhD is conducted. Dr. Bondonno and Prof. Hodgson conduct outstanding internationally recognized research to better understand the impact of particular diets and dietary compounds on vascular health, with a focus on dietary nitrate.

"At ECU, I will get valuable insights into how Dr. Bondonno and Prof. Hodgson conduct both, randomised controlled trials and observational epidemiological studies at the highest international standards. I will also get the chance to be involved in a randomized clinical trial that is planned in 2023 during the time of my visit. As another activity during the planned short-term visit, - depending on lab schedules - I will get insight into the laboratory analysis of nitrate and nitrite and F2-isoprostanes in blood and saliva samples. The latter biomarkers are analyzed in collaboration with the ECU team within the FWF project." (Rebeka Fejes)
